a dollar for Down's

Last Sunday, 17th of July 2005, the prefectorial board of Sri Cempaka Damansara had a charity awareness campaign; a charity awareness campaign for the down's syndrome; the "a dollar for down's" charity awareness campaign. This event was held in Bangsar Village and it started sharp at 11pm with on-going performances. We sold clothes, prices as low as rm1 to rm10 at most, offered henna & face painting services (see my face?), sand art and mooncakes. Performances consist of classical songs, hiphop, rap, r&b, dancing, rumba, jives, michael jackson imitation by yusri khir johari, belly dancing, prefects singing 'the greatest love of all', ballroom dancing, tap dancing, magic tricks by the students of Sri Cempaka Damansara and of course, the mock cheque presentation of an outstanding rm10000. But that's not all, the exact total of all the money we collected rounds up to rm16000. Hurray! Our national ballroom dancing champions, chong ian and his sister (she wears really high heels) danced their way into many aunties' hearts. Our own SSC michael jackson was definitely crowd-pulling, bringing all sorts of people -parents, students, waiters & waitresses, sales people, mat salleh on visits- together. This is indeed an eye opening experience. The campaign finally ended at 5pm :) Posted by Picasa

aw, dad. i remember.. whoa..long ago. let me count, hold on. 8-9 years ago. when we were staying in menara hartamas. and dad called me to him one day, and he showed me a newspaper clipping of this little girl with a hole in her heart. and dad asked me how much i'd like to donate and together, we drew up a little cheque, put it in an envelope, and sent it to TheStar. that was the first time i learnt about giving (to strangers and people we didnt know), to help. it wasnt in millions, but dad, it was millions to me. i'm so proud of you.
